This is the SLG blog that Lief never wanted to start. But Thomas started it for me and challenged me to make it better and hey, I took the challenge and here it is, and I hope with every post it is a better, and more entertaining blog.

Sr.LG

A slight name change, proposed by Mike and hopefully a temporary situation. Just to let you know that next Sunday, September 28th, all the SLG members who are running the Berlin marathon will be older than 50. So Mike thought it would be apporpriate to call us Sr. (for Senior)LG for this event.
Senior or not, we have left the thirty-somethings and the hardly 41-ers in the dust. The "old" runners will be vying for the "CMIYC" trophy and more importantly, will defend the SLG colors in Europe.
A bit sad but true... and hopefully this situation will be reversed. In the meantime, we are all accepting good wishes and good luck messages from our younger SLG members, either via this blog or to the participants personally.
And if anybody needs a reminder who is running, here is the (too) short list :
1/ Clem, supercoach and defending King of SLG
2/ Gil, the deposed King
3/ Lief, former yet eternal Queen of SLG
4/ Dora, SLG-er with still the best legs after all these years
5/ And to add to our paltry group, Gil's sister Gloria will be joining the pack.
Mike the Flyer did point out that if Gloria would be interested in joining SLG, we would have to consider very carefully whether SLG can manage another Perrone!. Quick thinking Mike. This will be even harder to decide since the founding fathers will not be present for the yearly boardmeeting.
And now, we are keeping our eyes peeled for good luck wishes streaming in!

Hi Sr.LG!
It took me some time until I pulled myself together to write a few good wishes for the Sr.LG on a legendary mission to Berlin (...nice touch again Mike!! "Sr.LG"... this is hilarious!). It is tough to not be with you guys in Berlin ....Anne and my city... where it all started..... You are going to have a great marathon and a great experience. This is a great city to run the marathon!! Let me know if they still have the showers at the finish line ;) I am looking forward to the trip report from our "senior" (i.e. experienced) and "noble" SLG contingent. I mean, 2 kings and a queen and a top notch marathon proven entourage. I bet, you guys are going to break Obama's spectator record from earlier this year hands-down.

Safe travels and a fantastic time in Berlin!! All the best and enjoy wonderful Berlin!!

Founding Father Stefan (Cheers)

I just checked the records and times of the race. What a close race this must have been for the CMIYC contenders. Gil must have felt Clem's breath in his neck all along the last stretch ... From the site it looks like it were perfect conditions. I hope you all had such an experience. Looking forward to seeing the pictures, hearing the Sr. LG stories!

erik - almost back in shape again
