This is the SLG blog that Lief never wanted to start. But Thomas started it for me and challenged me to make it better and hey, I took the challenge and here it is, and I hope with every post it is a better, and more entertaining blog.

Posting by 1/2 of the California chapter of SLG

½ of the SLG California chapter snuck into NYC this past weekend to get some training on the NYC streets in preparation for the marathon. Alas, his efforts at being undiscovered did not pan out. Instead, on the hill at the north end of the park he was discovered by NYC founding members Lief and Gil.

So much for the effort to go un-noticed, to sneak under the radar…

For those of you who have daily access to Central Park, let me tell you, there is no better place in the entire country to run. You are a very lucky group. Now you might think that running on the beach in California could be a veritable challenge to old Central Park – but you would be wrong. (Grant actually said "you would be RUN. Guess what he has on the brain lately). The energy of the other runners in the park is incredibly contagious. And of course – the cat on appropriately named cat hill is always there to keep you running up from the boat house to the top of the hill.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon.

Anticipation....

I know, I know.... it still seems to be an eternity until race day but if you take a close look at the calendar it is drawing closer - really really close if you ask me!! A little earlier then last year it is therefore in order to think about the rule set that will govern the 2nd edition of the already legendary "Catch-Me-If-You-Can trophy". As we are all aware King Gil snatched this trophy away from Queen Lief last year in the spectacular 2006 Chicago Marathon. It is obvious (if you have the pleasure running long with this guy) that King Gil is very self-confident. He has no doubt that he is going to defend his crown against the pack. Well, we will see...

Overall the rule set that was put in place for 2006 is still in effect for 2007. This includes the right of the reigning champion to establish eligibility criteria for the 2007 CMIYC event in New York City. This rule is under review, in particular due to equal opportunity complaints filed by members in our international chapters who have some very strong runners (actually really Premier runners).
Until a conclusion is reached on this topic I would like to point your attention to the 2nd worldwide half Marathon. Read through the site and sign up. It is free and a good way of bringing SLG together in a virtual event (actually it isn't that virtual, you still have to run the half and that is by no means a virtual activity as we all know).

I have set up the following team (go to the link "teams")

SLG Premier International Running

The more sign up and run the more fun!

And now get out there and log a few miles!!! Maybe the little animation below will help to motivate you.....  It feels good!
