This is the SLG blog that Lief never wanted to start. But Thomas started it for me and challenged me to make it better and hey, I took the challenge and here it is, and I hope with every post it is a better, and more entertaining blog.

State of SLG

Oops! I cannot believe it has been a year and 3 days since my last posting. It would seem to indicate that SLG has lost some of its relevance and luster but let me set the record straight on that. After all, there were a couple of amazing events this spring and July 4th will bring us the running of Clem's 100th marathon. As the Queen of SLG, I am extremely proud that so many members are heading to Belgium for the run and the celebration.
But first things first. As I already mentioned, there is definitely less hype around SLG. Name recognition is down. There even was an incident where somebody asked me whether SLG stood for :"Straights, Lesbians and Gays"! I swear to God it is true and actually, it gave me food for thought. It may be a clever make over of the name, now that Lief seems to be less in need of Support (with training and running that is). She seems to be back on top of her game, as the results in the two premier events of the spring proved.
Nobody needs reminding that after a record showing of SLG members in the Chicago marathon of 2006, some people started dreaming about running the BIG 5. Well, on April 25th, the Master Division of SLG added London to their laurels as the final installment. It definitely was the hardest to get into and once we secured an entry, the volcano underneath the Eyjafjallajoekull glacier in Iceland made it harder to get to the start of the marathon vin London than it was to finish the race. As Gil mentioned when it looked very iffy that anybody could get to London because of the airport closures in Europe : "It looks like the London Marathon will go up in smoke"!
But after some tense days, we got there, we ran and we finished :

That made it a proud accomplishment for Clem, Gil, Dora and Lief having run Chicago in October of 2006, New York in November of 2007, Berlin in September of 2008, Boston in April of 2009 and now, on April 25th in London.
Special guest star of SLG, Gil's sister Gloria finished ahead of everybody else in 3:36:48. Clem in his 99th marathon finished in 3:39:24. Lief ran her best time since New York 2002 and finished in 3:46:38.
Although Gil was diagnosed with a stressfracture in his shin a few weeks before the race, it did not deter him from running and finishing in London. His time did not reflect his great running ability but he was proud of his accomplishment. Rumor has it that he has either retired from marathon running or that he is "taking a break". Neither of these rumors could be confirmed.
And then of course there was Dora, who got a taste for running when she visited NY during the US Open tennis championships a number of years ago. She casually entered the Manhattan Half Marathon which at that time was still held in Central Park in the sweltering temperatures of August. Just as casually, she entered her first marathon in NY, became hooked and was a big force behind the push to run the Big 5. Thanks Dora for inspiring us to do so!

Then last week was the next installment of the "Healthy Kidney 10K" rivalry between Stefan and Lief. Two years ago, Lief beat Stefan by 6 seconds. Last year, Stefan evened the score in a race that had all the drama of a real duel.
A series was born and before the start of the third installment, Stefan decided that it would be a Best of Seven Series (founding fathers can make unilateral decisions like that I guess).
Lief took this race extremely seriously. Running the London marathon had been part of her training regimen to prepare for this 10 K. Talk about dedication!!! Her hard work paid off. She pulled away in the first quarter mile and never looked back. She finished the race in 48:45 which translates into 7:51 min/mile. Again, her best time since December of 2006 for a 10K. It may not have come as a shock to Stefan that she did so well and he has already started strategizing for next year's race.
By the way, Gil attended the race as well, to make sure there were no irregularities and to be on hand for testing if there was suspicion of performance enhancing drugs!

Don't be fooled by this picture, which was carefully staged by Stefan. You may think that Stefan came in first and Lief came in second.... What the fingers REALLY represent is the fact that it is 2-1 in Lief's favor in this BEST OF 7!

So now that there is the summer to look forward to, just a reminder of what's on tap for the next few weeks:
Next Saturday, May 29th, Petra, Philippe and Lief are running the Soldier Field 10 miler in Chicago.
Saturday, June 12th, Lief will participate in the Women's mini marathon (which is really a 10K race) in NY.
A BBQ at SLG headquarters is planned for Sunday June 13th.

And then, right at the start of summer, the oldest member of SLG and the undisputed King of the Half Marathon has a big birthday coming up on June 21st. Hard to believe he is turning 60!
To illustrate how strong he really is in the half marathon, if you analyze the results of the Long Branch Half Marathon (which until last year was a mandatory SLG event)you realize that he would have won his age category by a margin of almost 10 minutes! Happy Birthday to Gil and congratulations on all those great Half Marathons.
As if that is not enough, another member with an even more illustrious career, is turning 60 two weeks later. It just shows that Clem and Gil are competitive not only in racing but in aging! Indeed, Clem is celebrating his 60 two days before he will run his 100th marathon! An achievement that I cannot even begin to comprehend. And the great news is that there will be quite a few SLG'ers on hand to participate and celebrate! Gil has bought his plane tickets, Dora will be there, as will Philippe and Petra and Wendy and Erik. The founding fathers Stefan and Mark will be in attendance and it goes without saying that the Queen of SLG will be there too! All these people will come with their very supportive significant others of course!
Some of us are training for the full distance, but there will also be the opportunity to run a half marathon or a relay marathon with 4 team members.
It goes without saying that this will be one of the most important SLG events ever!
Which takes me back to a snowy Sunday night in January of 2004, when I was training for the first More Marathon after having done terribly in the NY marathon a few months before, and Mark found me in Central Park, exhausted after a 15 miler.... and SLG was born. Never in my wildest dreams could I have guessed that 6 years later, SLG has members all over the world and its most prolific member is running his 100th marathon.
So, the sheen may be gone a bit but all I can think is :"LONG LIVE SLG!"

before anybody calls me a sore loser...

Tourists from all over the world are excited about meeting some SLG'ers

...let me just remind you about the 10 k Healthy kidney race, held on Saturday May 16th. It was to be a rematch of the great race between Stefan and Lief which took place last year in the run with the same name and where Lief beat Stefan "resoundingly" by 1 second per mile.
So this year meant revenge. It started with a week of e-ntimidation between the two competitors, some confusion on where they would meet on the morning of the race and many, many twists and turns during the race.
The morning of the race turned out to be quite misty. Stefan thought those were perfect conditions for a duel. The moment they crossed the starting line, it started raining, and this was not merely rain, it poured... so much for the duel, the gods must have thought.
And when all was said and done, Stefan reestablished himself as the king of the short distance (as long as Gil is not around of course) and beat Lief by, according to him a "razor thin" margin of 14 seconds (Lief pointed out that she wasn't impressed with his shaving skills if 14 seconds is razor thin).
Some interesting facts about the results though :
Stefan finished in 51 minutes exactly, Lief crossed the finish line 14 seconds later.
Both competitors ran the first and the second half of their race in the exact same splits : 25:30 for Stefan's first and second 5 k, 25:37 for Lief's.
Although Lief felt she should have had a better pace per mile, she ran 4 seconds faster overall than in last years race.

What a great spring this has been for SLG!

No serious SLG'er needs reminding that a select group of members ran the Boston marathon on April 20th. Although we can all agree that it will be hard to recapture the SLG-spirit of the 2006 Chicago marathon, we came pretty close in Boston.
The city looked at its best in the days proceeding the marathon. The temperatures were mild, the blossoms were out and the arriving runners were trying on their Boston marathon gear.
Dora, Clem and I arrived on Friday, Gil, his sister Gloria and Stefan joined us on Saturday. We had breakfast together, went to the expo to pick up our gear, went for a prerequisite warmup run and of course there was the pasta dinner on Sunday night. In case you don't remember, the Boston marathon is run on Patriot's day, a holiday in Massachusettes which falls on a Monday. We headed out to "La Dolce Vita" in the little Italy of Boston and everybody seemed to be in great spirits!

Monday morning dawned a bit chilly, cloudy but dry. Team SLG headed to the loading area for the buses to be transported to the starting line in Hopkinton. The loading went without a hitch and in record time. While driving to the start, everybody seemed to be sobered by how far 26.2 miles seemed to be. And we had to run this distance back, all the way to Boston!!
Once in the staging area, there was not a whole lot of time to kill and most of it was spent standing in line for the bathrooms. Some fighter jets flew over the staging area, right before the start and the announcer got everybody's attention when he announced 12 seconds later that these same fighter jets had crossed the finish line at Copley Square!
All of a sudden, we had to hurry to get to the starting corrals and before we knew it the race was on its way. And what a race it was. Everybody seemd very pleased with the results.
Clem, who had had some miserable performances last year and had even briefly considered retiring before reaching his 100th marathon, was in fine form and beat us all in 3:34:22. Run as a true super coach! Congratulations to Clem. Gloria was right on his heels though and finished in 3:34:35. A P.R. for her and obviously she became a very serious candidate to be accepted as a full SLG member! If only she hadn't gone back to retrieve an ADVIL she dropped, she might have beaten Clem. Ahh... the curse of the Perrones. If only their performances were not so tainted by drugs. Then of course there is the other Perrone. Once again, Gil had endured a number of injuries but he endured and trained through the pain. He realized he would not be able to put down a top performance. Instead he ran a relaxed and smart race and finished in a 3:47:12! Too bad he has now officially retired from marathon running. He will be missed in the SLG marathons. and I think he still has some marathons left in him.
Lief ran 3:56:48 which was her best perfermance since Chicago in October 2006. Stefan did great and although the hilly course seems to have traumatized him a bit, he finished in a strong 4:12:40.
Dora, who called the course a roller coaster without a loop-de-loop, got sick during the race but finished in a happy 4:48:57

The post race party was hosted by Gloria in the corporate lounge of the Marriott hotel. That gracious gesture will not be ignored when the founding fathers consider her application for membership.
A collective runner's high became apparent quite early during the party with talk of completing the Big 5 and going to London next spring....

The next big event was the Long Branch, New Jersey half marathon, which took place on May 3rd. SLG first participated in that event in 2006, and our team immediately made it to the postcard advertising the event for the next year. Gil has been especially succesful in this race, finishing 2nd in his age category three years in a row. The other great thing about the NJ half is the post race party hosted by Erik and Wendy. The spread these two put on is amazing and truly one of the great feasts of the year.
Although we wondered whether we were just a bit too full of ourselves running a half two weeks after a marathon, the runners high we had gotten in Boston was still lingering. The biggest news about this event though was the debut of Wendy, who had taken up running only a few months before, had never run a race in her life and the longest run she had ever done was 10 miles.
Once again, the SLG'ers started right in the front and the four of us ran truly exellent races.
Although Gil was a bit slower than last year, his 1:34:49 was finally good enough for 1st place in his age category and he left his nearest competitor in the dust by more than a minute. Lief had started out with a goal of beating her Boston half marathon time of 1:53:44 which turned out to be an easy thing to do. Finishing in 1:49:29, the first time she had broken 1:50 in almost 3 years. Stefan was very happy with his 1:52:27 and Wendy's debut was amazing. Although she had predicted a time between two and a half and three hours, (which kept me looking for her in the pouring rain for over half an hour) she finished in an astonishing time of 2:12:22. Congratulations to Wendy!!! She immediately signed up for the next big SLG event, the NYC half marathon on August 16th.

In recent years, this event in New Jersey has grown extremely rapidly and it has become somewhat of a logistical nightmare to get to the start and to get out of the area after the race. SLG has therefore this will no longer be an SLG sanctioned race unless the organizers at Long Branch provide us with VIP transportation to the start. If that is denied, we are skipping the race and heading straight to the Sevenants home for the after race party!
Finally, I am getting to the final but very important chapter of this already too long posting. Tomorrow, the spring race season will come to a close with a new but very important event. There will be a one on one battle between Stefan and Lief in the healthy kidney 10 k. The rivalry in this particular distance started last year during the race with the same name. It was an unofficial, silent but hard fought battle between these two and it was referree'd by Grant who was in from California. Lief ended up winning the race by 1 second/mile. This year, both these athletes are in top form, less than a month after their performances in the Boston marathon. And although the queen of SLG usually has gotten the better of Stefan in longer races, Stefan is the reigning king of the short distances. The two rivals don't seem to be communicating in these last few days before the race, trying to stay focused on the task instead. I am not sure there will be much fan interest for this event but be warned, all bets are off for this one. Stay tuned for updates on the results.....

The true sign of spring

No, the true sign of spring is not the forsythia in Central Park, or a few daffodils raising their heads. The true sign of spring is when the drinking fountains in the park are spouting water again so you can stop stashing your water supply for your long runs. So what if it is 45 degrees out, or if there is a bit of snow falling on April 8th? Once you see somebody bent over the drinking fountain to take a sip, you know spring is around the corner.
And SLG, or at least its active members are starting the spring with a BANG. Last Saturday was the last long training run for the New York chapter, this time consisting of Stefan, Gil and myself. At the end of our 22 miles, the 3 of us felt pretty good and ready for Boston, which will be run on April 20th.
Although this race is not sanctioned for the "Catch me if you can" trophy, I still expect that there will be a silent duel going on between Emperor Gil and supercoach Clem. While Clem is ready to run his "90 somethingth" marathon, al poised for his 100th sometime next year, Gil has made it very clear that this will absolutely be his last. (Didn't Kim Clijsters just announce that she is coming back to professional tennis after she absolutely retired in May of 2007)
Stefan seems all excited and I am very happy that "the best legs of SLG", alias Dora will also be joining us in Boston. Gil's sister Gloria is a repeat guest SLG'er after she ran with us in Berlin last year. And I feel good! I hope I can get back to running this distance under 4 hours but we'll see.
So, the six of us are ready to receive your well wishes and positive vibes for this 4th installment of the Big 5!
And I will be back here in the blog after April 20th, hopefully with a smile on my face! Lief

Happy 5th Birthday SLG!!!

Now that a bunch of us have committed to running Boston (Dora???) and some numbers have been obtained, there is of course the dire reality that we have to train for this thing and motivation is not at a high right now.
I spent the first week of the New Year unexpectedly in Belgium where they had some of the coldest weather in years with day time highs around 20 degrees fahrenheit. That was not very conducive to running but I did manage to get one 5 miler in.
Got back to New York last Sunday in somewhat of a funk and I let two perfect running days pass. Then on Wednesday, I finally got my behind in gear around 5 p.m. and off I went. It immediately felt right and after about two miles all kinds of good running thoughts entered my head. And all of a sudden it hit me, that 5 years earlier, in very similar circumstances, coming off a disappointing NYC marathon (4:03 doesn't seem so bad right now), I needed to prove to myself that I could do better and I had decided to sign up for for the first "Old Lady Marathon".
I realized it had to be almost 5 years to the day that I went out on a snowy Sunday for a 15 miler. It was 3 p.m. before I left the house, snow was on the ground already and I decided I didn't need water, I would just eat snow to hydrate myself. Let me tell you something. You can't eat enough snow to quench your thirst. I don't remember much about the run except that I didn't see many other runners that day, and it was after 5 p.m and dark when I found myself in the southern end of the park, about a mile away from being done, but unable to run anymore because I was so tired. So I had just started walking when I heard this guy say : "Lief, is that you? How far did you go?" I realized it was Mark who turned around with me and egged me on to jog that last mile home. I was so grateful for his support and in my mind that was the day that the "Support Lief Group" was born.
All that reminiscing resulted in a very easy and satisfying 6 miler last Wednesday and when I got home, I was curious to find out in my running logs what Sunday in January of 2004 this had occurred. So I rumaged through my calenders and found all of the from 1999 to 2008 but of course, 2004 was missing. When I got to my office Thursday morning, I remembered that there was one old calendar sitting in my drawer and sure enough, I found it all the way in the back of my desk. And now comes the beautiful part. I had indeed remembered correctly (something that doesn't happen so often these days). I had gone out for that faitful 15 miler on Sunday, January 18th!!! 5 years later, January 18th is again a Sunday, once again, I am training for a marathon. Once again I am trying to get up the motivation but this time I am surrounded by some good friends to run with. So, although it is not easy to get out in these frigid temperatures, I know I will get it done. To mark the occasion, I invite whoever wants to join for some running this Sunday. I am aiming for 12 miles but you can join for as much or as little as you want. And to put the icing on the cake, after the run, we are off to Erik's place to celebrate the New Year, AND to have a 5th birthday party for SLG
Happy Birthday SLG!!!!!!

A Bi-coastal December for SLG

The last Sunday of the year finds me compelled to look back on 2008 and our running accomplishments
Although SLG went a bit the way of the big financial institutions, maybe not monetarily but definitely in miles run by its members, there are some fine moments to reflect on with a big smile on my face.

First there was the celebration of my 50th birthday. Although we had high hopes that some SLGers would run the Manhattan half on my actual birthday, January 27th, the party did most of us in. It ended at 4 am with eggs on the windows (courtesy of some neighbors), police coming to ask us to turn down the volume a bit and Stefan, Gil and myself deciding we could pass on the run. The sole SLG-er who kept up the honor of the club was David, in from California for the party and the run. And that provided him with a fine excuse not to have stayed at the party for the best gift I could have imagined; for the woman who has everything, there was the "SLG Monty"

May 17th brought another superb running moment in my running career. Before Stefan left for his "sabbatical" in Germany for 3 months, he challenged me in the 10 k Healthy Kidney race. Lots hase been written about this before but I am still savoring the fact that I finished in 51:18 to Stefan's 51:25 net time. It was really a treat to have beaten the founding father by 1 second/mile

Just like I turned 50 in 2008, so did the NYRRC. No SLG Monty for Mary Wittenberg. Their idea of celebration consisted of a 5 mile run at 5.30 am on a Wednesday, June 4th, in the pouring rain. I remember thinking how crazy it was to get out of bed for the occasion but it seemed only fitting that the Queen of SLG did her duty and represented the club for this special occasion.

Running this past summer was a lonely affair. As I already mentioned, Stefan was in Germany for 3 months, Mike was concentrating on short distance races or not running at all, Gil once again was injured and nobody seemed to be much interested in training for whatever so, there was many a loop run in the park by just me, in my attempt to train for the Berlin marathon. I am happy to report that Gil did join me again for some longs runs towards the end of the summer.
It seemed like a good omen that my, already famous, "medal tree" arrived on September 24th, the day I left for Berlin But as most of you already know, it was a big disappointment for me as well as for super coach Clem. Of course, the fact that Gil brough the CMIYC trophy back to American soil made it all worth it.

Then, on October 19, after years of talking about this 5 k race in Scarsdale and the Stanley Newhouse trophy for the first male and female finisher over 50, Gil finally ran the race and more importantly won his trophy. I tagged along for moral support and although I did not win the trophy for first woman over 50, I did come in second.

On November 16th, Stefan recaptured his title as "Prince of short distances" by beating me fair and square in the "Race to Deliver" 4 miler, usually a race where SLG runs very strongly. Even Mark showed up for the occasion.
Around the same time, after Clem had first nudged us to go for the "Big 5", he talked about his disappointing year in running, flirted with retirement but decided that he could not stop so close to accomplishing his 100th marathon, which will be an invitational.

Anyway, I did some serious soul searching about the state of my own running and realized things were not going so well for me either. But December brought some good stuff. First, Larry and I went to visit David and Grant in Marina Del Rey in California. Besides being great hosts, showing us around in LA (where yes, there are some very interesting sites to see), and just generally pampering us, David decided that it would be a good idea to run the Los Angeles half marathon on December 7th. First I thought this was a terrible idea, but luckily I warmed up to it and trained for it some. I had no great expectations, and besides making the strategical error of not peeing before the race, so that I had to find a tree right after we started, I ran my best half marathon in over 2 years. It was a very nice course that was partly run on dirt. Despite 3 quite challenging hills, I never seem to really tire and around the 10 mile mark I saw David about 200 yards ahead of me. I tried not to look at where he was as to not get in a tizzy about catching him but around the 12th mile I did catch him. For a split second I thought that maybe we should finish together. Luckily, my competitive spirit brought me back to my senses and yes, I am proud to say that I beat David.

The weekend before Christmas brought David to New York. A 15 k race on Saturday gave David a chance for revenge. However, Friday saw a big snow storm which turned the race into a "fun run". This means that the mile markers were out, and clocks were posted but there were no official results posted. It was really great to have David here for the run, together with Gil who drove in from Scarsdale on some pretty treacherous roads and of course Stefan ran too. It may have been a "fun run" for the NYRR but that's not how SLG saw the race. Of course the King beat but may I point out that the Queen came in second, and beat David and Stefan!

So this brings me to today and thinking that it has been a bit of a difficult year for SLG but there are some signs of hope. Clem sent me an e-mail this morning, with a preliminary calendar for his marathons between now and July 4th, 2010, which is for now the tentative date for his 100th. So although it wasn't an easy year for him either, I hope he will be re-energized. He is signed up for Boston (as well as for New York on November 1st 2009) as is Gil, and I. Dora has made some noises about being there as well, but lately she has not shown a sign of life. Stefan is still interested in running Boston and I would really love to have him there so we are still trying to get him an entry. Any updates on that subject Stefan?
And although the "Big 5" may be out of reach for most of us, just today, I was reminded why I need to run. First of all, I stepped on the scale this morning, AND THAT WAS A BIG REMINDER RIGHT THERE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THERE IS A LOT OF EATING AND DRINKING AND NO RUNNING! Second, it is necessary for my mental health, and it makes me organize my "blog thoughts". I know it gets a bit lengthy sometimes. For those of you who are bored to tears, you can just look at the pictures. Running also gives me a chance to argue about almost anything with my most faithful running buddy, Gil. We would not have time to do it at other times.
So for now we will train for Boston, and if London may seem out of reach (and also a bit out of my interest), maybe I will create my own BIG 5! New York, Chicago, Boston, Berlin and the CCM (Clem's Centennial Marathon). I hope SLG'ers will save the date!
And if the running part of SLG will ultimately wane, I will always be gratefull for the good friends and the good times that it has given us. Proof of this came just last Saturday after the 15 k,when we had a little Christmas brunch at SLG headquarters. Good food, drinks and a very relaxed atmosphere. People were around all afternoonm shooting the breeze, hanging around doing nothing, just enjoying each other's company. So, with this last picture I wish everybody a Happy New Year!!!

Say it ain't so, Joe!!!

Just back from a run on a cold but bright and sunny day and it is amazing how 11 miles can clear one's head. So here I am to report on the state of SLG and instead of enthousiasm for a new season, I feel that SLG is going the way of Lehman Brothers, Merryll Lynch and the the Big 3 Automakers!
The week started out well enough. Just look at this pictures, taken last Sunday, November 16th. The founding fathers, plus the Queen and the Emperor were very pleased with their results in "The Race to Deliver". This has been the race in which all of us have run our best times, coming on the heels of the NY marathon. Since none of us ran in NY this year, all bets were off but here are the results for this fine 4 miler :
Gil : 26:55 or a 6:43 minute mile (still on top)
Stefan : 30:39 or a 7:39 minute mile (and very happy to have beaten the Queen again)
Lief : 31:34 or a 7:53 minute mile (never imagined she would beat the 8 min/miles again)
Mark : 32:05 or a 8:01 minute mile (was not used to the new corral system yet and got stuck
in the traffic of the last corral)
So all of us were on a runners high but then I got a message from the Supercoach which made my heart skip a beat. Only weeks after planting the seed to run the next race to get to the BIG 5, Clem obviously was in a funk.
While we were running our 4 miles last Sunday, he finished his 92nd (!) marathon. He felt bummed about his finishing time and expressed disappointment about the 4 marathons he had run in 2008. When he told me he even considered stopping marathon running altogether then and there I almost fainted! But after careful evaluation , and with the goal of 100 marathons so close, it seems that he has come up with a plan. It involves weight loss, which he hopes will make running easier and more satisfactory which would then lead to more running motivation and ultimately a better condition. Clem confided a while ago it was getting harder and harder to motivate himself to run, what with 2 very cute grandchildren tugging at his heartstrings and competing for a limited amount of free time.
I am sure that all of you, like me, hope he will stick to his plan, and that we will see him in a few more marathons. He has been such an example to us all and it would be a big loss for SLG if he would stop competing, just a whiff away from his lofty goal of 100 marathons.
Of course we may have aimed a little high, by trying to get a group together for Boston, one of the two remaining races to get to the Big 5. After initial enthousiasm, the reality of trying to get in, has set in. Gil and I, AND CLEM are qualified for Boston. So is Gloria, Gil's sister and according to Gil (who I spoke to a second ago) she has already booked a room in Boston. Dora seems to be able to get a number through some European tour operator and is working on that. Stefan considered charity but finds the 3000$ that he has to raise a bit daunting. And who can blame him with all the uncertainties of the economy. And David also seems interested in running.
As founding father Stefan has pointed out, the number of marathons that we will run and run together as SLG'ers is extremely limited. I think he is right. So, I am exploring all the avenues available, I am looking at all possibilities to get entry numbers for Boston.
I have never had as much fun running as the last four years, when SLG came into being. And not only the running has been great but even more so have the parties, the cameraderie, the teasing, the rivalries! It will leave a big void if all that disappears! So let's see what we can come up with! It is hard to believe that the best years of SLG are behind us! Say it ain't so, Joe!
P.S Weather forecast for Monday April 20th, 2009 is as follows :
45 degrees in the morning going up to a sunny and windless 54 degrees in the afternoon!
